We are set to Make a 30 second film in any media on any subject you feel passionate/strongly/angry about.
Pre-production:
Inspiration:
While I When I was browsing through the project pdf, I saw there are inspiration words “global issues” “environmental crisis”. It reminds me of one article I read before. Which is about light pollution, so I decided to show the audience how light pollution leads to ecological problems. I wanted to show when people enjoying their night life, how struggling the animals are because of artificial daylight.
Research:

First I did some research to get to know more about light pollution, which helps me to think about the whole story and choose characters. As I decided to be concentrating on ecological problems, the research is more related to animals.
I chose sea turtles, moths and birds as my characters eventually. I actually thought about owl and nightfogs or something, however the film is 30 sec so there is not allowed to have so much contents. So I picked those typical and people is more familiar with.
Storyboard sketches:
Some simple sketches of what I want to show.
I think it’s a bit monotonous and would like a video title, and I came up with a sentence I think matching the theme which is:

this sentence is showing how god gave the world light, And I changed some words of it, to show how people gave the night light to make it a bit ironic.
Colour:
In order to show the night scene, I chose to use black and white. And the black would be the background colour and white would be the character and objects showing in the film.

Production
In first place, I want to show the light we have in the daily life, to say sometimes we would ignore the light but it is everywhere. So I shot some clips of the light in my life, to make them in a quick flash to enhance visual impact. Then I started drawing.
I used procreate to draw the plots one by one. There are so many problems came out:
For example, I didn’t realise there were only 40 layers in my setting, so I had to draw one Movement in separated parts which was really complicated. And also, sometimes after I finish drawing a movement I found it was not what I wanted, so I had to delete them to redo it, I think that situation must happen in lots of animation production process. We have to be patient in face of failures. And the most difficult parts, must be drawing these animals, I got some references from internet and to find their body structure and how they move, fly, it was really easy to get wrong.

and here is the first version of my work:
I got feedback from Jane, she said maybe remove the background music and to have more try on sound effects would be better. So I tried that way to have a little change. And I put my name in the end either.
Here is my final work:
