This group work allows us to choose 5 Words from the Word Cloud to write a brief script/story and use any or all of the techniques encountered in rotations to create 20 sec animation.

There are the 5 words we chose, they convey feeling of peaceful seaside scenes, so we decided to create beautiful little love story. This mind map shows how we was thinking about combining these elements together.

Here is our moodboard, we got inspired by him and wanted to use the way that grey and black background, bright and high saturation colour objects to Highlighting the main object.

Our storyboard is quite rough, but we used it to show the time sequence and the whole scenes we need to draw. Once we finished one of them, we gave a mark on it, which speed up our working process. And this beautiful main character was designed by one of our group.
Because we were all online students in the early stages, we were lack of communication so the working process is quite separated, and our drawing style also quite different.
After arriving UK, we met each other and drew together after quarantine in cafe. And shared our works, Working together will be more motivating and make the process more efficient.

I was responsible for the editing part, and because we did not draw animatic, so I don’t know how long each clip last, which means I need to off some parts to make the timing right. We draw more than 20 sec so the editing would be important. We discussed together to adjust the sequence and timing, more people have more thoughts which is good for the final work.
For the sound design, we did not use any pre-existing musical composition, instead we recorded all the sound used objects surrounding. I got failures loads of time cause it doesn’t work, one of sound they said sounds like mosquito which is really weird, so I deleted it. And I still don’t know how to create sound of liquify, I think we should use a liquid that is denser than water to create it. It was interesting to create sound by trying all the time.
We used paper texture filter to make it looks more like hand-drawn and which matches the element of love letter.
Feedbacks:
Painting style is not uniform, the group needs to communicate more, some fragments are abrupt.
Some transitions look nice.
For improvement, I would change my style to close to others’ a bit more and communicate more to achieve more successful teamwork.
